"Palos Verdes Resident since 1947"

March, 2015

Dear Neighbor:

The real estate market hasn’t changed too much since I last wrote in January.  There is still a dearth of homes for sale, which insures that any that come up at a reasonable price don’t last long.  All my listings are in escrow, but I do have a really lovely one level 4 bedroom home at 8 Aurora Drive, RHE, coming up about the time you receive this.  Price will be $1,295,000.  I will probably have others by the time you get this, and as one of the top agents on the Hill, I am privy to many listings before they hit the market, so don’t be afraid to contact me at 310 613-1076 or email [email protected].

You may be interested in a lecture I will be giving March 18 10:30 am at Hesse Park to the Peninsula Seniors entitled “Real Estate Myths and Realities”, in which I will set the record straight regarding common misconceptions about how the real estate business works, what is important and what is not, etc.  After 31 years in this business, some things have become clear to me and I’m not afraid to share them.  I doubt you’ll hear many of them elsewhere, though I’ve gotten into some of them in past editions of this letter.  Trust me, this will not be a commercial.  You also don’t have to be a senior to attend.

But on the subject of seniors, I am including again an updated contact sheet, so that when the time comes, your kids and heirs (sometimes they’re not the same – I have stories) will know who to call.  My mother was pretty organized, but it sure would have helped my sisters and I if we’d had one of these.

I am writing this just after the Academy Awards.  It reminds me that there are also awards for real estate, whether it’s for homes sold or customer satisfaction.  I have so many of both that I can’t display them.  I have boxes of them in the garage.  For 2014, I was the number one Berkshire Hathaway/Prudential agent for number of homes sold in Palos Verdes.  I hesitate to mention it because it’s not a goal of mine and I see claims by agents all the time – “number one west of Crenshaw, south of PV Drive North, between February 2nd and 5th, full  moon” or whatever.  But I have to confess that it is gratifying to me since I still have the same commitment to do the best possible job for each client, without the assistants that the other top agents generally have.  Having me personally paying attention to your transaction clearly benefits you, but it does make it tough to do the numbers that some of them do.  This is why I say that the agent who sells the most houses may not be the best agent for you.  I think I was #10 or so among agents from all companies, no doubt just behind Brian Williams.

Sincerely,

Dana H Graham
